One of my specialties is data integration — sometimes referred to as ETL (extract, transform, load) or various other terms.
There are dozens of ways to move data around. As a lifelong programmer with decades of data experience, I have become an expert in many industry standard tools. I specialize in moving complex data around in complex ways. Here are a few:
- SSIS – Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services
- DTS – The ancient version of SSIS. Is anyone out there still running SQL Server 6.5?
- Microsoft Power Automate – a cloud-based, no-code app that’s really good at moving data around
- Salesforce Flow – also cloud-based, but it lives inside Salesforce’s walled garden
- .NET CLR with C# or Visual Basic – Sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty and connect to an API the old fashioned way
- T-SQL Stored Procedures – Take advantage of the power of the database engine by combining it with .NET CLR with C# or Visual Basic
These are just a few of the tools I’ve used on a day-to-day basis for decades. Nobody said moving data around was easy. In fact, it’s very hard. I specialize in solving hard problems.
